Dear Waratahs Supporters,

I’d like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank you for your unwavering support and passion throughout our 2024 campaigns.

It’s no secret that the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season was a challenging one on the field. The Waratahs proudly represent the great state of NSW and its people, and our overall on-field results clearly didn’t reflect the pride, passion, and love we have for our state and our fans.

Yes, injury setbacks played their part, but we are not making any excuses.

Instead, we have been forthright and proactive in making several exciting changes that will positively transform the organisation moving forward.

The Waratahs are entering an important new phase, and we are making some strong progress with our strategic plans to achieve sustained long-term success.

We have begun the build for 2025 and beyond with the activation of the recruitment process for our next Head Coach and Director of Performance.

We have already acquired the services of rugby league star Joseph Suaali’I for 2025 and in the coming months, we will be announcing several significant signings to join him in cambridge blue next season.

An undoubted positive for this season was the success of our women’s side who went through the season undefeated before eventually going on to claim their fifth Super Rugby W title – the most of any club. We are incredibly proud of the efforts of these talented women and of the investment we have provided into growing the women’s game at all levels.

At the heart of our strategic plan lies a commitment to engaging with our community, bridging the gap between the professional game and grassroots rugby. Our players have been actively involved in community initiatives this year to further strengthen our ties with fans and introduce new ones to our great game.

We've invested significantly in community rugby activities, allocating approximately $6.5 million in total last financial year. We've expanded our team of development staff, ensuring that they are on the ground, week in and week out, supporting clubs with recruitment, retention, coaching and other ‘Rugby for Good’ initiatives.

This season has certainly been challenging, but I can assure you that the sky is truly the limit for the Waratahs and Rugby in NSW.

In closing, I thank each and every one of you once again for your continued support as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we will continue to uphold the virtues of the Waratahs and ensure its enduring success for generations to come.

We hope you will continue to join us on the journey in 2025.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Doorn

CEO NSW Waratahs
