The Lions' class proved too much, but the Waratahs won plenty of plaudits for the way they pushed the hosts.
Here's what the big names had to say after the game.
“It was a tough game, they came at the break down and in the air and made the game scrappy and we struggled in that part so we needed to find a way to win at the end there but a lot to go to
“I’m pretty happy [with my game] off the short turnaround but we’re enjoying the Australian culture. We’re building and growing as a group so at the moment, we’re in a very good place but there’s more to come”
“We had a lot of dropped ball and turnovers with the ball slippery out there. It was a bit frustrating out there because we weren’t very clinical.
“Our set piece was good which is a nice step up but there were missed opportunities.”
“Super proud. There were some having a crack at us and thought we were going to be beat by 70 or 90, and we showed them
“We showed up and we asked for effort the entire game but we showed that they were beatable. They are 15 guys on the field, and if you put pressure on them, things can happen.
“It’s an awesome way to finish. The crowd tonight were amazing. I wish I was good enough to play more Test matches because that was awesome.”
“I think they made the game really messy for us and we weren’t as clinical as we liked but credit to them, they made it hard for us to exit and really got after us at ruck time.
“It’s a strange feeling to play against some of the boys I grew up with like Rob Leota but I’m really proud to represent the Lions. It’s nice that I get to play in front of some of my family tonight like my mum and dad to come watch me so I have to keep going.”
“It's obviously a pretty easy game to get up for, but you only get 12 years you get to play them
“It's probably a bit tougher on them, they're trying to prepare to play the Wallabies. Sometimes it can probably be a bit of a hiccup, but honestly, we've been training really well the last two or three weeks, and honestly, I knew the boys were going to be up for, obviously, a pretty good challenge.”
