The NSW Waratahs have begun to build for 2025 with the recruitment process for the next Head Coach and a Director of Performance officially underway.

Following the recent departure of Darren Coleman, the incoming Waratahs Head Coach will be tasked with returning the Waratahs to the position of Australia’s best-performing Super Rugby team.

The Director of Performance is a newly-created role at the Waratahs and will be integral in shaping the strategy for the development and performance of players across all Waratahs teams and pathways.

Reporting into NSW Waratahs CEO Paul Doorn and overseeing the Head Coach, the Director of Performance will be a key leadership role within the Australian and NSW Rugby ecosystem.

“These two key appointments present our club with an opportunity to effectively hit a reset button, to assess and refine our systems and strategies, and to ensure we’re doing everything possible to equip our Waratahs teams for success,” Doorn said.

“The nature of our integrated high performance model with Rugby Australia also means we’ll be closely coordinating with the national high performance program, and have the ability to tap into the experience and expertise of that program.

“I know the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season was a frustrating and disappointing one for everyone invested in the Waratahs, particularly the members and fans.

“However I am confident these two appointments will put our club on the path to delivering sustained success, on and off the field, in 2025 and beyond.”

The recruitment for both positions is being managed by Sportspeople , with all enquiries to be directed to Sportspeople Managing Director Scott Oakhill.
