The NSW Waratahs are thrilled by the decision of the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation to not only continue its partnership with the Women’s team for twelve months, but to also extend its commitment by supporting the Sydney Women’s Rugby competition.
The foundation will again be a Platinum Partner of the NSW Waratahs Women squad in 2025, with its logo to feature prominently on the upper back of the team jersey.
However, as part of the partnership extension, the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation will now also be a Major Partner of the Sydney Women’s Rugby competition.
The partnership strengthens the commitment by the NSW Waratahs and the foundation to promote breast cancer awareness and support the fight against the disease.
It also comes as Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation nears its thirtieth anniversary in 2025 and is a critical step in fulfilling its long-standing mission; that being, to educate the community on the importance of breast cancer awareness and early detection.
Since its founding, the foundation has made significant strides in advocating for life-saving screenings, early diagnosis, and support for those affected by breast cancer.
Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation Chair Lynne Crookes OAM said: “This partnership with the NSW Waratah’s Women’s team is not only a momentous occasion, but a vital opportunity to reach a wider audience and continue our work educating people about the importance of early detection.”
“The NSW Waratah’s Women are true champions in their community, and their support plays a crucial role in helping us spread the message that early detection of breast cancer can save lives.”
As the NSW Waratah’s Women’s team pursues a sixth Super Rugby championship, they will continue to assist the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation in raising awareness through community engagement, events, and various educational initiatives.
The NSW Waratahs Women’s advocacy will also help the foundation’s goal of ensuring breast cancer awareness reaches people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life.
The NSW Waratahs Women and Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation have been working together since 2018, and this latest extension reflects the bond between the two parties.
Rugby Australia Director Commercial & Marketing James Durbin said the partnership: “Is not just about the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation supporting us, but also us supporting the foundation by trying to increase breast cancer awareness.
“We are extremely proud of this long-standing partnership with the foundation, and the opportunity that it offers the NSW Waratahs Women to support the community.
“Rugby entertains, but it is also a platform from which we can serve the community, especially through partnerships like this with the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation.”
The NSW Waratahs have secured a dream draw for the 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition, securing home games for the first two rounds at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.
The five-time Super Rugby Women’s champions first play the Fijiana Drua in Round 1 on Friday 28 February, then the Western Force in Round 2 on Saturday 8 March.
The games also feature in two doubleheaders at Allianz Stadium with the NSW Waratahs Men who host the Drua in Round 3 and Western Force in Round 4 that day.
