Seven NSW Waratahs players have been selected in the 35-man Wallabies squad for the upcoming two-Test tour of Argentina as part of the Rugby Championship.

Angus Bell, Langi Gleeson and Taniela Tupou have been selected in the forwards, whilst Jake Gordon, Max Jorgensen, Andrew Kellaway, and Dylan Pietsch were selected in the backs.

Waratahs back-rower Gleeson returns to the group after recovering from an ankle issue, with Jorgensen set to make the trip to Buenos Aires, having made his Wallabies debut last week against South Africa.

Test centurion James Slipper could reach the remarkable milestone of the most capped Wallaby of all time if he plays both Tests of the tour and currently sits just one match shy of George Gregan’s record of 139 matches for Australia.

The squad will travel to Argentina on Friday ahead of Tests against Los Pumas in La Plata and Santa Fe.

Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt said: “It’s been a challenging couple of weeks but as a coaching group we are keen to continue trying to help a mostly consistent group go forward.

“The Pumas have a talented and robust squad, which, along with the travel, will require further improvement from our squad.”
