Australia U18 head coach Shannon Fraser has announced a 40-man Development Squad as preparations build for their upcoming two-match tour of New Zealand.
The selected players will assemble for a final camp in Canberra later this month, where they will compete in a three-way trial against an Australian Schools squad on 26 September.
The camp will conclude with the naming of a 26-man Australia U18 squad to travel to New Zealand.
Australia will face the New Zealand Barbarians at St Paul's Collegiate School in Hamilton on 2 October before taking on the New Zealand Schools at FMG Stadium on 6 October.
"It has been an extensive selection process that commenced back in February with the provincial U18 and academy games and has continued throughout the school and club seasons," Fraser said.
"I'm excited by the quality of players selected in this squad, many of whom have come through the National High-Performance Pathway, played in the Super Rugby U16 competition and represented Australia U16 in previous years.
"Each of these players have now earned their opportunity to compete for a spot in the Australia U18 side we take to New Zealand.
"While the time we spend together in camp will be short, it will also be intense, and the competition between the players will bring out the best in all of them."
