Born in Narrabri, a small town in the North West slopes of New South Wales, 500km away from Sydney, Sid Harvey's rise to the NSW Waratahs squad has been meteoric.
Having attended Narrabri High School, with former alumni such as Wallabies Chris Latham, Scott Gourley and Michael Brial, Harvey's first love was cricket and he represented Country NSW as an all-rounder at the under-17s national cricket championships. During the coronavirus pandemic, he even had a Zoom call with Nathan Lyon around the off-spinner's journey from country NSW to representing Australia.
Harvey combined his cricket with his rugby and had his first break in the latter when he was selected for the NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association under-18s in 2023 for North Wests, where he won player of the tournament.
Harvey was spotted by the Waratahs and also won his first call up to the Australian Youth Sevens ahead of the Global Youth Sevens in December 2023.
2025 was a breakthrough year for the Narrabri-born flyer. After a season with the Australian Sevens team, where he scored the match-winning try against Fiji in the bronze medal match in Hong Kong, the winger was inspired in the Waratahs Super Rugby AUS campaign, playing every match from the start.
He earnt selection to the 2026 Swyftx Super Rugby Pacific squad due to his form in that tournament. The winger is also a proficient goal kicker, with an excellent left boot.
