The NSW Waratahs are excited to announce that Wallabies star Taniela Tupou will join the club for the 2025 season.

Tupou is renowned as a colossal force in world rugby and provides a tremendous boost to the Waratahs’ front row.

A fearsome scrummager with an explosive running game to match, the world-renowned tighthead prop joins Joseph Suaalii, Andrew Kellaway and Rob Leota as high-profile recruits for the Waratahs in 2025.

Since making his Super Rugby debut for Queensland back in 2016, Tupou has amassed over 100 Super Rugby caps for the Reds and the Melbourne Rebels, and has earned over 50 Test Caps for the Wallabies.

The 28-year-old will form part of a formidable front-row for the Waratahs alongside fellow prop Angus Bell and hooker David Porecki, all of whom have represented Australia with distinction.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that Taniela will be joining our club in 2025,” Waratahs Director of Performance Simon Raiwalui said.

“Taniela is one of Australia’s best rugby players and any club in the world would be happy to have his services.

“His signing is a portrayal of the positive direction that the Waratahs are heading in, and I have no doubt that our members and fans will be eagerly anticipating seeing Taniela running out in sky blue next season.”

Tupou is similarly excited to be joining the Waratahs.

“The Waratahs are a big brand in Australian rugby and have a proud history,” Tupou said.

“I’m really looking forward to joining the club next season. Waratahs fans are very passionate and I’m happy that they’ll be cheering for me in 2025.

“I’ve played with Belly, Jake, Langi and Porecki for Australia and I’m excited to join forces with them for the Waratahs.

“With Andrew Kellaway and Joseph Suaalii also joining the club, I’m confident we’ll be in for a big year.”
