The NSW Waratahs Women for Sunday’s third round of the ISPS Handa NextGen 7s has been bolstered with the addition of two players from the national Sevens program.
Joining the side for the Round 3 of the NextGen 7s tournament to be held at the ACT Brumbies base, Viking Park in Canberra, is Kiiahla Duff and Piper Simons.
Duff, 22, played for NSW Waratahs Women’s Sevens in the Next Gen Sevens last year, scoring a try in the final round of matches to beat Queensland and win the title.
She then debuted for Australia at the Dubai 7s in the 2024–25 SVNS series against China and scored her first international try against Canada.
She has since played 12 Sevens matches for Australia in four tournaments. Simons, 20, also debuted for the Australian Sevens team at Dubai last season, but against Fiji, and has since played in two Sevens tournaments.
Previously she was also in the Australia's U18s Girls side that won the 2023 Global Youth Sevens title and the 2023 Australian Youth Commonwealth Games.
Meanwhile, also returning to the NSW Waratahs Women’s team for Sunday is Super Rugby halfback Tatum Bird as captain after missing Round 2 for workload management.
