NSW Waratahs U19 head coach Dan England has named a largely unchanged team ahead of Sunday’s game against the Queensland Reds, as part of the Santos Festival of Rugby.

The side will arrive in Narrabri riding a wave of momentum after a dominant 60-5 victory over the Western Force in the opening round of the Super Rugby Men’s U19 competition.

Flyhalf duties have been handed to Henry Conick, who comes into the starting XV in place of Sebastian Newman.

Riley Evans has earned a call-up at outside centre after a standout Colts season with Randwick, which culminated in a premiership. Evans has replaced Mitchell Holmes, who has been shifted to the reserves.

Meanwhile, Dane Mitchell, Thomas Goldie and Dante Siale have been rewarded with spots on the bench.

Following Sam Blank’s strong performance in Round 1, the scrumhalf spoke on the importance of building on what the Waratahs delivered against the Force.

“Queensland will be a step up, so we’ve been sharpening our set piece and our connection,” Blank said.

“Last week’s performance gave us real belief. We took control early and finished strong, however we know Queensland will bring a strong set-piece and a physical battle.

“We’re buzzing to go away this week— it’s different taking the Waratahs into the country. It’s going to be a good vibe and a great chance to build as a group.”
